CITO on its travels – today: China
28th August - 4th September 2011
Trade between the traditional industrialised countries and this Far Eastern giant continues to thrive. In Europe, Germany is still by far China’s most important trading partner, and vice versa. Compared with 2009, German shipments to China grew by 33.4%, whilst in 2010 China’s exports to Germany rose by 36.3%.
According to the business development organisation “Germany Trade and Invest” (GTAI) promoted by the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology, China’s gross domestic product for 2010 is predicted to grow by approx. 9.6%. The rise in pay levels and increased spending power resulting from this trend also has a positive impact on the need for packaging.
As world market leader in the area of creasing systems with the “Made in Germany” stamp of quality, CITO has a good reputation for product quality and innovation. Despite local competition in China we have succeeded in penetrating the market. This success is spurring us on to keep investing in research and development so we can continue to improve product quality.
It is important for our company efforts for us to keep track of market trends and requirements to be able to react to these more effectively. So on 28.08.– 04.09.2011 our Technical Salesman Michael Zelingr visited both the Guangzhou and Shanghai branches of our long-term partner Fortune Industrial Supplies Co., Ltd.
Included in the agenda was a series of customer visits. We made use of these visits to present CITO product innovations to our Chinese customers and demonstrate their use live on a machine. As well as focussing on the improved CITO BASIC creasing system with a synthetic base material for a resulting longer service life and better adhesion on the base plate we also promoted our special self-adhesive make-ready tape CITO TAPE. This proved extremely popular because of its ability to provide superb die-cutting with a subsequent longer service life for the cutting tool.
Future prospects continue to look promising. We look forward to carrying on our good working relationship with Fortune Industrial Supplies Co., Ltd. and would like to extend our thanks to their entire staff for the constructive discussions and for organising the visit so well.
