The clever solution for oversized sheets and excessively long waste strips

The actual sheet size in diecutting may turn out to be larger than planned. In such cases, the trim knives permanently installed in the cutting die are often too short, meaning that the waste strip is not completely cut off.

The CITO Waste Trim Knife provides a simple solution to this problem – directly on the machine and by the converter themselves. The trim knife enables quick and flexible responding to deviations.

It is not placed in advance by the diemaker, but is attached directly to the cutting die on the machine as and when required – exactly where an additional cutting rule is needed.

The knife is simply stuck onto the cutting die using the CITO EasyFix adhesive tape – quickly, precisely and without tools.

It consists of a robust, plastic injection-moulded part in which the knife is directly moulded. This ensures that it is perfectly aligned and always has the correct cutting height.

To the left and right of the cutting rule, the proven CITOject F ejection material supports the cutting process and ensures clean, even cuts.

Existing cutting knives can be extended directly with the CITO Waste Trim Knife.

If waste pieces are too long and get stuck in the stripping station, on conveyor belts or in the shredder, an additional trimming knife can be placed on the cutting die in the appropriate place.

To do this, the rubber coating is cut out in the required position and the CITO Waste Trim Knife is stuck directly onto the cutting rule.

The CITO Waste Trim Knife is delivered ready-assembled on a carrier plate. There is no need to remove a liner from the adhesive tape – the knives are ready for immediate use.

Directions for use for optimum results

CITO recommends the following procedure to ensure a smooth and reliable production process:

  • Proper preparation:
    The surface of the cutting die should be dry and free of dust, oil or release agents. Use clean, lint-free cloths for cleaning.
  • Easy to bond:
    The CITO Waste Trim Knife can be stuck on with light pressure. Ensure precise positioning and uniform adhesion. To maintain the adhesive strength of the glue, do not touch it with your hands.
  • Reliable use:
    When used properly, the CITO Waste Trim Knife can be reliably used for up to 50,000 impressions. After that, the function of the temporary cutting rule should be transferred to the new version of the cutting die.
  • Regular checks:
    Check adhesion regularly before and during production. In case of visible detachments, the knife should be removed or, if necessary, additionally secured.
