RSP Green Finishing – for the environment’s sake!

CITO fulfils its responsibility for the environment. Sustainability and environmental protection are permanently anchored in all processes, starting with product development through to the dispatch of our products. With careful use of resources and sensibly used energy, we make an active contribution to environmental protection and for future generations. This basic attitude and responsibility is also reflected in our research and development work.

Since 2000, RSP Inline Finishing Systems have been marketed worldwide with great success. So we examined in the area of inline finishing the topical subject of CO2 and climate protection intensively. Extensive research and calculations were carried out to determine the extent to which CO2 emissions can be reduced with RSP Inline Finishing Systems.

Printers value RSP and benefit from its economy, time savings and its outstanding quality. Inline finishing jobs can be completed in flatbed diecutters without additional diecutting or perforation passes. The job possibilities are extremely varied: starting with simple perforations for reply cards, tear-off edges, coupons, vouchers via window impressions, slots and kisscutting adhesive labels, presentation folders and highly sophisticated mailings through to creases can be produced extremely economically and in top quality with RSP.

The decisive additional benefit of RSP: not only the user, but also the environment benefits from the RSP concept:

With RSP, CO2 emissions can be reduced significantly.

The following is a practical example:

The following application job shows the potential of RSP Inline Finishing:

5-Farben-Bogenoffsetduckmaschine

5-colour sheet offset printing machine
with coating unit
Print run 250,000 sheets

For a job with a print run of 250,000 sheets on a 106 5-colour sheet offset printing machine with coating unit, the CO2 emissions are reduced by 500 kg compared to offline processing on a 106 4-colour with coating unit and a 106 flatbed diecutter.

Other processes such as transport, set up times or additionally used material have not yet been taken into account, only the production energy used by the two machines.

Potential savings

approx. -500 kg CO2

The theoretical value is illustrated by expressing it in trees:

A normally grown beech tree, 23 metres high and with a trunk girth of 30 cm bonds an average of 12.5 kg CO2 per year.

Extrapolated, a printing company that only produces one comparable job per month with RSP Inline Finishing saves six tonnes of CO2 per year. This corresponds to the amount of carbon dioxide that 480 beech trees can absorb in the same period of time.

Corresponds
to the storage quantity of 40 beech trees per year

Thousands of RSP users are already benefiting, not only from unbeatable cost and quality advantages, but are also making an active contribution to climate protection!
